：Winning Over Jiang Wei by a Clever Stratagem
This is a story from the novel Three Kingdoms. Jiang Wei was adept with both pen and sword. He was not only a man of intelligence and bravery， but also a man of resources and astuteness. Zhuge Liang wanted to win Jiang Wei over to be his assistant. When he learned that Jiang Wei was a filial son whose mother was living in Jicheng City， he devised a plan to win him over. He ordered Wei Yan to attack Jicheng City by bluffing and blustering. As soon as Jiang Wei heard the news， he immediately led the troops to Jicheng City to save his mother.Zhuge Liang sent captured-general Xiahou Mao to Jicheng City to persuade Jiang Wei to surrender. When Xiahou Mao was only halfway there， he was told by people that Jiang Wei had already surrendered to the Shu State. Therefore Xiahou Mao had to go to Tianshuiguan. He came to the city of Tianshuiguan about Jiang Wei's surrender. In the middle of the night， Zhuge Liang asked somebody to dress up as Jiang Wei and attack Tianshuiguan. This made the officers and soldiers in the dity really believe that Jiang Wei's surrender to Shu State was true.
Jiang Wei tried every possible means to protect Jicheng City， although he lacked the necessary army provisions. One day Jiang Wei led his soldiers to seize army provisions. The soldiers of the Shu State took advantage of this and seized the city. Since Jiang Wei had lost the city， he could only run to Tianshuiguan. The generals and soldiers wouldn't let him into the city， becarse they mistakenly believed that he surrendered to the enemy. Jiang Wei had to go off into the wilderness. He went less than a few kilometers before Zhuge Liang came along in a carriage and his troops encircled Jiang Wei. Realizing he was trapped， he surrendered to Zhuge Liang.

This is a story from Three Kingdoms that happened before the Battle of Chibi. One night， Zhou Yu was thinking hard in his tent about how to defeat Cao Cao's army， when Huang Gai came in . He suggested attacking with fire. “Well， it's exactly what I mean to do.” Said Zhou Yu. “That's why I'm keeping those two spies： to convey false information to Cao's camp. But I need a man to play the same game for us.” Huang Gai said he was willing to do it. They decided to carry out the trick of being flogged to win the enemy's confidence.
the next day Zhou Yu convened a general assembly of his manders outside his tent. He ordered the manders to take three months's rations and prepare to defend their line. Huang Gai came forward and said： “We don't need three months. If not， we'd better throw down our weapons and sue for peace.”
Zhou Yu exploded in fury. “Ibear our lord's mandate，” he cried， “to lead our troops to destroy Cao Cao. How dare you weaken our morale? Remove him and execute him!”
Huang Gai proudly， “I have served the Southland through three successive reigns. Where do the likes of you e from?”
the entire assembly got on their knees to intercede for Huang Gai. Zhou Yu said at last： “In consideration for the manders' views， I shall not kill you. Give him one hundred strokes across the back!”

Zhou Yu let Kan Ze， Huang Gai's friend， to deliver the letter of surrender to Cao Cao， which Huang Gai had prepared. Before long， Cao Cao received a letter from the two spies， saying “Look for a boat with a blue-GREen flag at the bow. That will be Huang Gai.” In Huang Gai's boat there were bustibles. This is a story from Three Kingdoms. Zhou Yu， chief mander of Wu， Was talented and proficient in strategies and tactics but was narrow-minded and intolerant of others. He discussed with Zhuge Liang plans to conquer Cao Cao while simultaneously pondering how to murder Zhuge Liang. Zhou Yu had been wounded by a poisonous arrow when he was attacking Nanjun. Zhou's wound burst when he learned that Zhuge Liang had already taken over Nanjun， Jingzhou and Xiangyang. Zhou Yu， with a healing wound， racked his brains for ways to capture Jingzhou. His strategies， however， were all seen through by Zhuge Liang who even sent him a mocking message. Zhou Yu was vexed again. “Since You***the Heaven*** made me， Zhou Yu， why did You make Zhuge Liang too?” Zhou Yu grudgingly asked before he took his last breath.
Learning of Zhou Yu's demise， Zhuge Liang decided to go to pay respects. Fearing that Zhuge Liang might be murdered， Liu Bei send Zhao Yun with 500warriors to protect him. Before Zhou Yu's coffin， Zhuge Liang personally offered libation， kneeled on the ground， and read his eulogy. Tears of grief gushed forth from Zhuge Liang. All the generals from Wu were moved. When Lu Su saw Zhuge Liang was in such grievance， he said to himself， “Zhou Liang was narrow-minded and he brought on his own death.”

One day, Lu Sheng went to the capital for the imperial examination On his way when he reached Handan, he stayed at an inn. A Taoist priest surnamed Lii was also staying there. Sitting in his room, Lu Sheng lamented over his poverty and unsuccessful career and sighed in grief with knitted brows and a long face.
一天，卢生赴京赶考，路过邯郸，住在一家客店里。一个姓吕的道士，也住在这家店里。卢生坐在屋里慨叹自己的穷困不得志，唉声叹气，愁眉苦脸。
As the Taoist priest Lu saw Lu Sheng in such a state, he took out a pillow from his pocket, gave it to him and said:

“Try sleeping with this pillow under your head. It may be good for you.”

Lu Sheng went to bed as told, while the owner of the inn was steaming millet. With the Taoist priest’s pillow, Lu Sheng fell asleep and had a dream. In his dream, he married the daughter of a high official surnamed Cui in Qinghe and he himself also became an official.
卢生照着道士的嘱咐去睡觉了。这时候，客店主人正在蒸小米饭，卢生枕着道士的枕头睡着了，做了一个梦。梦中，他娶了清河崔大官的女儿，自己也做了官。
He had a brilliant career as an official and often got promoted. Once he went to fight against the enemy and rendered outstanding service. Thus he rose higher and higher in officialdom till he became the Minister of Revenue and concurrently Imperial Law Enforcement Official.
他官运亨通，不断提升，一次上阵杀敌又立了功。这样，他官越做越大，一直做到户部尚书兼御史大夫。
Later, someone was jealous of him and framed a case of conspiracy against him. The emperor ordered to have his house ransacked, his property confiscated, and him condemned.
后来，卢生遭人嫉妒。有人诬陷卢生谋反，皇帝下令抄家问罪。
After a few years, the emperor reinstated him to his original post. He had a large family with lots of children and grandchildren, and enjoyed great wealth and high position as before. In his old age, he fell ill, could not be cured, and eventually died.
过了几年，皇帝又恢复了他的官职。他子孙满堂，继续享受着荣华富贵。晚年，他得了病，医治无效，终于死去.
Lu Sheng woke up from his dream and found himself still sleeping at the inn, with the Taoist priest Lu sitting beside him. The millet which the owner of the inn had been steaming was not yet done.
