Human ways are conditioned by earth, earth by heaven, heaven by Dao, and Dao by the self-sow. Dao is distinguished by gentleness; nothing in the world is gentler than water, which though benefiting everything does not compete. Dao is distinguished by moderateness. It gives birth but not claim; does but not rely; rules but does not dominate; govern in an action-less way. Dao is distinguished by toleration. It is good to the good, also good to the non-good. It contains all the rivers as the sea does, large, because of the broadness. Dao is distinguished by harmony. Everything carries Yin on its back and holds Yang on its belly, blending breaths to make harmony. The universal knows harmony, and the bright knows the universal. The way to animate life depends on harmony; to achieve harmony depends on communication. Communication makes harmony, quietness, peacefulness and prosperity.
The spirit of Dao has established a school in Chinese history, namely Taoism, and given birth to a religion, namely Taoist Religion. The spirit of Dao created the glory of the reign of Wen and Jing, and fabricated the honor of the reign of Zhen Guan. We should make use of the ancient Dao to control the being of today. Dao, whose spirit is embodied in its love of life, love of society, love of environment, passes history, culture and religion, and becomes a spiritual treasure of the entire human race.
In today's world, peace and struggles go together, and happiness and sufferings are next to each other. If we hold the idea of Dao, practice the spirit of Dao, abandon self-exhibition, self-righteousness, self-pride, self-pity, have the knowledge about harmony, universal, content, finality, we would be able to avoid painful struggles and share harmonious peace.
A harmonious world is communicated by Dao.
