My Summer time work at an Old Folks' Home
Since summer I have volunteered at an old folk’s home because I saw how lonely some of the residents were. I volunteered two days a week during the summer, which I have continued. I have learned many things about nursing homes.
During my volunteer time at the old folks’ home, I have taken old folks for walk and read them letters from their children. We also have birthday parties and exercise days.
I have had many good experiences volunteering at the old folks home. My volunteer experience has shown me that I can bring joy to older people. Everyone will have to face having parents and grandparents growing older and becoming dependent on their children. Dealing with this situation has made me a stronger and more caring person.
Yesterday we went to Happiness Nursing House to help the old people.
When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the old people. First we introduced ourselves. Then we were packing Zhongzi together with the old, talking and laughing. After lunch, we performed and sang songs with them happily. Finally all the old people said goodbye to us at the gate.
At the end of the day, we were very happy because we did a good deed. I think it necessary for us teenagers to learn how to respect and take care of the others, especially, the old . It is also a tradional virtue to help the old.
Nowadays, many people are engaging in socially useful activities. For example, they go to visit the elderly people in the nursing home or donate money for the Hope Project. I also visited the nursing home last semester with my classmates. We sang songs, performed short plays, and brought homemake cakes to the elderly people. It was a good experience.

Chongyang,the traditional Chinese festival for the elderly,is coming around .We are planning to visit the Nursing Home to celebrate the speacial day,and we would like to invite students from your school to join us.We have planned several activities,When we get there,we will visit the elderly in their rooms in groups,prensenting them with flowers and self-made cards to show our respect and love.Then we will do some cleaning and washing for them with the help of the nurses.
